The FPS Blackbird bow has a special hand-crafted black stained octagonal stick with a matching ebony frog, black carbon-look tensioning screw & whalebone-look winding.

FPS’ attention to detail provides excellent playability. Our hand-crafted black stained stick has an ebony frog, is fitted with a nickel-silver ferrule and heel plate. Inside the frog, hand-cut wedges and the FPS signature hair channelling system correctly distributes the hair ribbon evenly. A black carbon-look button, Paris-eye and whalebone-look on a octagonal stick complete the aesthetic. High-grade natural horsehair provides strong resin grip and meets strict hygiene compliance with FPS and Australian Quarantine requirements.

FPS uses only non-endangered species replicating the desired properties of Brazilwood & Pernambuco.

Due to centuries of exploitation, both Brazilwood & Pernambuco (which are taken from different sections of the same tree) are now endangered and have been placed on the CITES (Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species) IUCN Red List of endangered & restricted materials.
